Dottie Rambo

My heart is sad this afternoon after hearing the news of Dottie Rambo's tragic accident. While I never had the privilege of meeting Dottie, I was ministered to by her prolific songwriting. I have sung Rambo's songs as long as I can remember. One of my favorites is "Sheltered in the Arms of God". My college quartet sang this song a couple of years back in the late 90s. There's a line in the second verse that says "I'll fall asleep and wake in God's new Heaven, sheltered safe within the arms of God." From the sounds of it, that's what happened. Dottie and her prodigious talent will be missed. The legacy she left through her inspired lyrics will always be with us.

Dottie's music is some of the best music ever written. These past couple of weeks I've been listening to some old Rambo's records. What great harmony and blend they had. These are songs that I've known since childhood, and the words she wrote speak to me now, as they did then. Yet another hole has been left in the world of gospel music.

I agree with you, Shanna. We've lost a treasure.

What can one say, but the verse that says "Precious in His sight is the death of His saints."
